Beds that have lost their definition have a way of making an entire property look neglected - even when everything else is in good shape. That's exactly the kind of situation we walked into on this one. The plant beds along the building were flat, dull, and blending into the surrounding hardscape. No real edge. No color. Just tired-looking soil.

We started by getting the beds properly cleaned out and edged along the stone border. That stone curbing you can see running the length of the bed - it's a good structural foundation, but it only does its job when there's a clean separation between the bed and the pavement. Once we had that line re-established, the whole layout started to take shape.

Then came the mulch. We laid down a fresh coat of dark mulch across all the beds, which does a few things at once. It gives the beds that sharp, finished look. It also helps retain moisture around the root zones of the shrubs, and it slows down weed growth so the beds stay clean longer. The dark color against the red barn siding makes everything pop.

We also handled trimming on the shrubs throughout the property - including the larger overgrown shrubs out front. Shrubs that have been left to spread need to be cut back with some intention, not just hacked down. We took our time to shape them properly so they'll fill back in clean as the season moves forward. That kind of pruning work makes a real difference in how the whole property reads from the street.

Fresh mulch jobs are filling up fast on our end. If your beds are looking like they need a reset, now is the right time to get it done.
